The lustre of glazes create contrast on projects. This wheel-thrown bowl is a wide project. It is 6.5 cm tall and 15 cm wide and has a parabolic shape. This project has three different glazes: turquoise, a mystery glaze (which turned out to be transparent-white), and clear. The clear glaze is very thin and not glossy. While the turquoise and white glazes reflect light, the clear does not, creating an inconsistency in the glazing of the project. This difference is very apparent, especially in direct light. The variations in glossiness in glazes affects how they appear in light and can create contrast on a project.

I really like the subtle shapes of the gazes - they help 'widen' the bowl visually and also make it feel softer yet more complex. The subtle differences of color help make small layers in depth of the glaze which helps us to assemble and disassemble the overall form - it has a sense of movement and flow.
