Glazes appear brighter on porcelain projects due to its lighter color and smoother surface. This is a wheel thrown bowl, 8 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches tall. Because it is porcelain, it is thick to keep it from collapsing due to its relatively lage size. The bowl is glazed half dark blue (dipped) and half a mixture of shadow green and turquoise (painted). When compared to projects thrown with Vashon White clay and glazed in the same way, the glaze sits very differently on porcelain. It is smoother and brighter because of the color and texture of fired porcelain.
