To create multi-piece or elaborate projects, often multiple steps are required. This wheel-thrown honey pot is made up of three pieces: a vase, a lid, and a handle. The vase has a split lip to support the lid. The lid was thrown as a small bowl and, instead of being footed, it was smoothed off. The handle was thrown directly onto the lid, a technique I had never used before. A day after the pot was thrown, a hole was cut in the lid and pot to accommodate the honey dipper. The piece was dipped in clear glaze and orange stain was painted on the outside. To create the entire honey pot, a total of three separate pieces were thrown and assembled.
