Mixed materials can be incorporated into projects so they represent something specific or evoke a particular thought. This is a porcelain slab project. The porcelain was rolled thin and draped over a paper platter with rocks on it to so it would be bumpy. After it was bisqued, the project was dipped in clear glaze and polished rocks were scattered randomly on it. Broken blue and green glass was placed on it so it would melt in the kiln. The project looks like a stream bed because of its texture and the melted glass looks like running water. These materials that I had never used before in ceramic projects, such as the glass and rocks, and the new draping technique, make a project that symbolizes a river.
